I read something recently that made me really stop and think. The question was posed, what story are you telling yourself? Wow. Here’s my story: I am the person I want to be. Every day in every way life keeps getting better and better. I am grateful for every experience I have had in my life because I needed all those experiences to bring me to the person I am today. I forgive any and all hurts done to me or done by me. Forgiveness and gratitude have changed my life entirely.
We all have a story that we tell ourselves and a story that we tell others. Do your stories match? Do you hide behind hurts or insecurities when you share who you are and what you are about? Think about that for a minute and let’s look at what a story is all about.
S = What do I Stand for? In my case, it is shining my light out to others, sharing love and hope.
T = What Toughens me? My experiences and the lessons learned have toughened me. I used to say my song was “I get knocked down but I get up again.” I no longer call that to me but I am grateful for the down times I have experienced and choose now to stay upright!
O = What have I Overcome? I could write a book about that! Oh wait, I did, LOL.
R = What do I Remember? I remember the good times, the laughs, the spirit that I am who delights in seeing the good in others. I remember the lessons I have learned along the way.
Y = What do I Yearn for? Peace on earth. People getting along and lifting each other up instead of tearing others down.
That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!! What’s yours?
